Wood Mood opens in in occasion of Archtober

Following the success in Milan and London, we are bringing the to for its third edition. WOOD MOOD showcases wooden objects produced by international designers and launches during this year's New York Archtober on October 30th 2014 in the Valcucine-Dom Interiors showroom in 66 Crosby Street.

Commissioned by Valcucine and curated by Italian architect Davide Fabio Colaci, the will unveil new possibilities and concepts, exploring the characteristics of wood beyond the conventional and functional.

WOOD MOOD celebrates the versatility of wood, championing designers and craftsmanship that challenge the traditional practices associated with this material in the same way Valcucine does with its range of contemporary wooden . The selection includes twelve objects (or series of objects) that reassess the concept of wood as well as the traditional practices of product . Each object embodies and expresses the research it has been based upon and has been selected for the way it refers to key values of contemporary living.

WOOD MOOD features designs by Tomás Alonso, Arabeschi di Latte, Daniele Bortotto, Fabien Cappello, Fabio Castelli, Sandra Chamberlin, Lorenzo Damiani, Giulio Iacchetti, Fort Standard, Giovanni Longo, Naruse Inokuma architects, Luzia Vogt. New additions for this exhibit are sculptor Sandra Chamberlin and New York Based contemporary studio Fort Standard. The exhibition will be displayed using a series of large boxes that have been produced using wood panels from Valcucine's stand at during Milan's Salone del Mobile 2014, in line with the company's recyclability philosophy. The boxes are used to transport the pieces as they travel around the world.

To launch the exhibition, Valcucine is organizing an event in collaboration with Wanted Design on October 30th, including a talk at 6pm, followed by a cocktail party from 7pm-9pm. A discussion on wood, craftsmanship, research and contemporary practices in product design and architecture, will be moderated by Paul Clemence, Contributing Editor for Metropolis Magazine. The panel includes Andrew H. Dent Ph.D., Vice President, Library & Materials Research at Material ConneXion, Winka Dubbeldam, Founder and Principal of archi-tectonics, and Daniele Prosdocimo, Communications Director of Valcucine, and Brian Jevremov, Founder, Dom Interiors.
