Contemporary design among the peaks of Chamonix
In Chamonix, Guendalina Di Lorenzo and Benedetta Severi of Projects in Common have designed the architecture and the contemporary design of the interiors of a chalet where the landscape of the French Alps enters the home and shapes its identity. Spread across multiple levels, the building accommodates six en-suite bedrooms, two spacious living rooms, and a series of shared areas conceived to welcome family and friends in an authentically alpine atmosphere, interpreted through a contemporary lens.
Large windows frame the mountains, while natural materials, neutral palettes, and bespoke wall panelling reinterpret the local tradition with a tailored approach. Icons of Italian design and custom furnishings complete an essential yet refined interior, conceived to offer an intimate and comfortable experience.

Forma Mentis kitchen integrates seamlessly into the chalet's aesthetic. The handleless Matt Lacquered Bronze doors create visual order and ensure high ergonomic functionality. For this project, managed by Valcucine Torino | Oikos Margaria, a layout encouraging social interaction was chosen: a generous space designed to bring people together around the pleasure of shared cooking. Double ovens and a spacious refrigerator meet the needs of a home lived to the fullest, between days on the slopes and evenings by the fire.
The top is made of Valcucine MDi, a high-performance technological mineral surface that combines aesthetics with durability. Its tactile materiality and large-format slabs ensure visual continuity and a result consistent with the chalet's alpine atmosphere. Its durability and resistance to stains and high temperatures make MDi ideal for a space designed for everyday use, while the delicate chromatic character harmonises with the natural materials selected for the interiors, contributing to a coherent, soft, and sophisticated environment.
On the top floor, the family room opens onto a double-height volume overlooking the living areas; on the ground floor are the wellness zones and service spaces, including a ski and bike room and an outdoor jacuzzi. Indoors and outdoors flow naturally thanks to a design that carefully considers everyday gestures and the quality of life in the mountains.
The project was developed “from concept to completion,” in line with the multidisciplinary approach of Projects in Common: a dynamic, concept-driven method that integrates architecture, interior design, graphics, art, and scenography, addressing every space through multiple perspectives and with constant attention to evolving lifestyles.
