Valcucine celebrates the value of craftsmanship with the “L'intelligenza del fare”

From the wisdom of skilled hands to technological innovation, four chapters explore the values and vision that guide Valcucine.

What makes an object or a truly unique? For Valcucine, it is not simply its form or function, but also the knowledge, skills and ideas that bring it to life. L'intelligenza del fare | Quando il sapere diventa futuro (The intelligence of making | When knowledge becomes the future) is a documentary that explores this vision through the words of Gabriele Centazzo, the company's founder and designer, and the experiences of artisans who collaborate with Valcucine.

Directed by filmmaker Laura Sans Gassò, the documentary unfolds across four chapters, each dedicated to a different dimension of Valcucine's philosophy.

1. Craftsmanship: the value of uniqueness

The story begins with the emotional connection between people and objects. In a world driven by consumption, personalisation and uniqueness can restore value to the things we own, encouraging us to care for them for longer.

Craftsmanship thus becomes an essential resource: through the sensitivity and skills of those who work with materials, every object can acquire a distinctive character.

The experiences of the artisans featured in the documentary — Del Savio 1910, R.P.G. Intagli, Carraro Chabarik, Società Vetraria Biancadese and DMM— demonstrate how the dialogue between artisanal expertise and industrial capabilities can bring complex and original craftsmanship to a wider scale while preserving its intrinsic value.

2. Vitrum : where creativity meets technology

Valcucine's ongoing research is also reflected in its ability to reinterpret traditional techniques through new materials and processes.

Vitrum was born from experimentation with a glass inlay technique that transforms glass surfaces into personalised works of , combining colours with inserts of authentic materials such as wood and copper. Technology thus becomes a tool in the service of creativity, opening up new possibilities for artistic expression and making every unique.

3. Applied Intelligence: designing with people and the environment in mind

Valcucine's design philosophy stems from a sense of responsibility towards the environment and a commitment to improving the way people experience the kitchen. Dematerialisation, recyclable materials and product longevity are all aspects of an ongoing research process aimed at limiting environmental impact throughout the product life cycle.

At the same time, ergonomics, freedom of movement and research into lighting help create a more natural and intuitive user experience. Applied intelligence lies precisely in translating a vision into tangible solutions that combine responsible resource management with the quality of everyday living.

4. The future: continuing the pursuit of beauty

The final chapter looks towards the future as a journey of continuous exploration.

Craftsmanship offers extraordinary opportunities to interpret materials and enhance their distinctive qualities, transforming them into elements that express authentic beauty.

Gabriele Centazzo's message to younger generations is an invitation to nurture hope, courage and perseverance, without ever giving up on creativity. Because imagining the future means continuing to move forward, experiment and explore new paths.
