Sustainability
Finding solutions that combine functionality and aesthetics is not enough. Today we need a new paradigm. A model of sustainable development at every stage of the production process and design thinking. Intelligent design that, every day, makes it possible to contribute concretely to restoring the right relationship between man and nature. This is how kitchens are born that are made with lower consumption of raw materials and energy, with recyclable components at the end of their life cycle such as aluminum and glass, and with toxic emissions reduced to a minimum. Kitchens with long-lasting technical and aesthetic durability.
CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Do you ever wonder what industries can do for the environment? The answer can be found in the shift from a linear economy, made solely of consumption and waste, to a circular one. Made, yes, of production and consumption, but also of reuse and recycling. The highest expression of this design philosophy is the Invitrum base units, a system of glass and aluminum base units that respects the main rules of eco-sustainable design: dematerialization, recyclability, reduced toxic emissions, and long durability. A virtuous project that, thanks to research and a conscious use of materials, does not bow to the throwaway principle but instead aims at the future of the product.
DEMATERIALIZATION
Our design is based on dematerialization which, by involving less use of raw materials and reduced energy consumption, responds to the compelling need of a planet made ever poorer by a philosophy of consumption. Thanks to continuous research into materials and their resistance limits, our construction technology allows us to reduce kitchen structures to the essential, without compromising their quality. The solutions we propose represent “resilient lightness” and open the way to the designer’s responsibility, whose work can help restore a proper relationship between man and nature.
RECYCLABILITY
In nature, substances circulate and are transformed. Ultimately, they are all reabsorbed and reused. We too need to learn how to reduce the quantity of waste and do everything we can to reuse and recycle materials. That’s why we design our carcasses and structures using parts that can be easily dismantled and separated at the end of their lifecycle. For instance, we use aluminium for our frames, a material that can be 100% recycled and endlessly reused to make new products that preserve the qualities of this metal, over and over again.
ENVIRONMENTALLY-CONSCIOUS MATERIALS
Well ahead of the times, we use recyclable materials such as glass and aluminum, and favor environmentally friendly processes, including by working with partners who guarantee advanced technological processes aimed at the rational use of materials; this allows us to minimize the waste and emissions needed for their production. We pay great attention to the selection of raw materials in compliance with the strictest standards, such as FSC® certification, which ensures that the wood comes from forests managed correctly and responsibly. With a view to continuous improvement, we seek out new solutions to promote increasingly sustainable choices, and we value suppliers who adopt EPD environmental product declarations.
IN HARMONY WITH THE ENVIRONMENT
Improving people’s wellbeing also means respecting the richness and uniqueness of our planet. The two aspects are closely connected; this is precisely why the most important projects are also the fairest, most equitable and correct ones. Starting with our own design work, aimed at reducing the total amount of materials used and their environmental impact. This path is supported by the ISO 14001 environmental management system, by the use of FSC® materials within the certified scope, and by mapping the contribution of our products to LEED v4.1 credits. With sustainability in mind, the Pordenone headquarters boasts a photovoltaic system that covers 30% of its energy needs. The Bioforest ODV Association also dates back to 1998, founded by us to foster a more conscientious and responsible production culture, capable of actively contributing to the restoration and safeguarding of natural resources.
