The language of pictograms

Timeless signs

Since ancient times, humankind has felt the need to leave a mark in order to tell its story. This is how cave paintings came into being, gradually evolving into small symbols and figures with a spontaneous, immediate stroke: pictograms.

Archetypes of prehistoric signs, pictograms embody the meaning of the object they represent, enabling communication to be rapid and clear, without the use of words. Through their ability to synthesise meaning and their ease of understanding, they represent a universal form of writing, free from barriers and from the limits of space and time.

Their use in Valcucine’s communication dates back to the early 1980s and remains a strong element of the company’s identity. An ancestral language that evokes a precious heritage, yet still feels surprisingly contemporary.
